What We Offer
Inspiring and engaging workshops
Our coaching style is all about making every session both empowering and engaging for young people.
We use evidence-based frameworks, relatable examples, and a good dose of humour to keep young people interested and involved.
Targeting the fear
of failure
Fear of failing is something we’ve all likely felt in life. Without support, we tend to behave in unusual ways, often not always beneficial.
Helping young people to beat this fear is a big part of what we do, improving attainment and attendance. While creating confidence and resilience.
Building confidence and resilience
Young people live in a world full of digital overwhelm and confusing, complex relationships. All of which hurt their self-esteem and true identity.
Our youth coaching programmes are designed to make an impact now and in the future.

Emotional Based School Avoidance
School attendance remains one of the leading priorities in Scottish education with a rich body of evidence investigating the role it plays in wellbeing, attainment and child development. Regular attendance at school is positively associated across a number of domains in a child or young person’s life.
Crucially, we know that the risk factors linked with school non-attendance and engagement affect the short and long-term perspective of pupils. Those attending and engaging in school less frequently put themselves at higher risk of disengagement from education and developing unhealthy behaviours in adolescence, such as substance use.
In the long-term, school non-attendance can increase an individual’s risk of developing mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety and depression) and a reduction to their lifelong earning potential.
This only helps to accentuate the ongoing challenge of addressing the poverty-related attainment gap at a time when the number of pupils living in poverty has risen to approximately 1 in 4 in Scotland (Scottish Government, 2023). These numbers are expected to have risen in light of the cost-of-living crisis.
The Leadership & Personal Development Programme is designed to empower young people by equipping them with essential leadership tools and fostering personal growth through a principle-centred approach. This programme creates the conditions for profound individual change, enabling participants to become aware of their potential and take control of their educational and personal lives. By exploring their current reality and identifying the root causes of school avoidance, participants are guided to envision and create their desired future.
Central to the programme is the development of problem-solving skills, breaking down barriers, and empowering youth with the tools to address their own challenges. Through active engagement in activities and discussions, participants raise their self-awareness, allowing for self-evaluation and the creation of clear goals and purpose for their future. The programme also supports participants in discovering their purpose, unlocking their potential, and making meaningful changes in their lives.
Key learning areas include leadership development, where skills for learning, life, and work are honed through youth impact coaching. Participants are encouraged to focus on their core values, helping them understand who they are and where they aim to go in life. Additionally, the programme provides opportunities to learn alternative communication techniques for conflict resolution, both internally and externally. By participating in group and one-on-one sessions, participants raise awareness of their current reality and create actionable goal maps that guide them toward their desired achievements. Ultimately, this programme aims to empower young people with the tools and mindset needed to lead purposeful and impactful lives.

Kaizen Leaders Programme
The Kazien Leaders programme has been designed to create a simple system that pupils can use to lead themselves towards personal effectiveness, achievement and attainment. The programme also complements broad general education and creates significant aspects of learning in physical, mental, emotional and social well-being.
Our programme creates the conditions for each individual to become more independent through a principal-centred approach. This enables pupils to develop greater self-awareness by bringing their personal values into focus, creating positive and sustainable relationships with peers, staff and family members by having self-worth, respect for others, managing transitions, dealing with conflict, developing resilience to learning, increasing confidence and self-belief through continual self-evaluation towards self-improvement.
In addition to these outcomes, the programme encourages reflective practice and the importance for each individual to recognise their personal strengths and skills, to help make informed choices when planning their future next steps.
The intensive residential leadership programme takes each young person and staff through a personal journey of discovery and learning guided by a model of elicitation. Each young person is believed to have the inner-built skills to reach their potential. The programme is grounded in each young person’s hopes for their experience and these are revisited throughout the programme.

Leadership Development Programmes
Coaching To Coach
A Coaching and mentoring approach has become the cornerstone of a range of approaches to teaching and learning and to the way education establishments are led and managed. It is important that those who are required to undertake a line management or reviewer role as part of the professional update process have had the opportunity to engage in in-depth, substantial high quality professional learning in order to develop their coaching skills.
The Coaching to Coach Programme has been designed to offer this experience and provide the opportunity to learn proven skills, gain knowledge on how to lead teams through this empowerment approach. If used effectively, there is abundant evidence that coaching and mentoring empowers individuals, builds teams, enhances collegiality, and improves morale across the team or establishment. As a result of feeling more in control, individuals are more likely to accept responsibility both for their own learning and behaviour and for the aims of the organisation.
In addition to these outcomes, the programme encourages reflective practice and the importance for each individual to recognise their personal strengths and skills to help make informed choices when transferring their learning into practice.

Family Empowerment Programme
The Family Empowerment Programme’s primary focus is transforming the culture of families in communities by using coaching and principle-led development of unique quality. We do not teach parents and young people how to be leaders but rather provide the rare opportunity for them to stop, reflect and take a perspective on what their leadership could yet become and therefore realise their potential.
The experiential learning within the programme enables all participants to raise awareness of their current reality and create a shared action plan through goal mapping towards their desired reality for themselves and others within the family unit. In addition to these core components, participants bring their personal principles into focus enabling them to recognise who they are, what they are about and where they are aiming to go in their lives. Furthermore, participants are given an opportunity to experience new techniques and approaches when faced with conflict or challenge through alternative styles of communication. The residential element provides an opportunity for participants to put what they have learned into practice, this will be in preparation for returning to their homes and communities where they will serve themselves and those around them.
Working in partnership with local authorities and other organisations, Kazien Youth Empowerment can contribute to effective parenting, by building more positive futures for children and their families.
